Review by Joe Anderl :: March 2003

This band has the greatest name in the world. Every 20-something year old male knows the meaning of this band name. I loved the extra lives in Contra. You could beat the whole game using this code. This offered hours of entertainment to those of us who owned or had friends who owned an old school Nintendo. This record is much like Contra in the fact that it kicks ass and offers up, while not hours of entertainment, at least a good 40 minutes of it. This is not the type of record I expected at all. By just the name I expected some sort of weird spazz core much like that of xbxrx, but what I got was an album that reminds me of a cross between American Football, Mineral, and Matt Pond PA.. From the opening acoustic guitars of "You Landed so Gracefully," to the passionate screams of "Time Wastes No Time," to the intricate guitar work "Muscle, When Will I see It", this album is a ten pound golden nugget in a five pound bag. Definitely one of the most promising bands I have heard in a while. I will definitely check out their next release.
